  1. Differences in lamp bracket materials: Currently, the market offers aluminum brackets and red-copper brackets. Aluminum brackets are inexpensive, while red-copper brackets cost more than ten times as much. Even among red-copper brackets, the price can vary depending on whether they are silver-plated; those with higher-quality silver plating are often referred to as “premium brackets,” though most such brackets are actually brass with a silver finish.

  2. Differences in bonding materials: The chip and the lead frame are interconnected via gold wire bonding. Currently, both alloy wire and pure gold wire are available on the market; pure gold wire is superior. Aluminates, exemplified by YAG, offer stable performance and low light depreciation, whereas silicates have poorer chemical stability but higher brightness. To develop products with stable performance, one must not be misled by claims of “high brightness”—this is a critical issue.

  5. Differences in adhesives: Phosphor must be mixed with adhesive before being applied to the chip; low-quality adhesives will yellow over time, leading to increased light depreciation, whereas high-quality adhesives are jelly-like.

Suppliers of surface-mount LEDs typically state that their products are packaged using branded chips.
